Elections to the European Parliament

The election of members to the European Parliament is held every five years in the EU Member States. Denmark elects 13 of the 751 MEPs in total.

The next elections to the European Parliament will be held in 2019. In Denmark the election is held on Sunday 26 May, 2019.

As a citizen of one of the European Union (EU) countries and living in Denmark you can vote in Denmark at the European Parliamentary Election.

If you have voted in Denmark before

If you have been enrolled in the electoral register in Denmark in previous European Parliamentary elections, e.g. in 2014 or 2009, you will remain in the electoral register as long as you have a permanent address in Denmark. However, it is a precondition
that you have not moved abroad, to the Faroe Islands or Greenland in the meantime or have requested to be struck off the electoral register 

If this is the first time you want to vote IN DENMARK

If you want to vote in the European Parliament elections in Denmark, it is required that your residency is registered in the Civil Registration System (CPR).

Also, you must fill in an application form and send it to Rudersdal Kommune.

Save the  application form and fill it in.

We must receive your application no later than Tuesday 23 April 2019.

THE MINISTRY FOR SOCIAL AFFAIRS AND THE INTERIOR

The Ministry for Social Affairs and the Interior is responsible for performing tasks in connection with general elections, referenda, elections to local and regional councils as well as elections of Danish members to the European Parliament.

The ministry also manages the political party subsidy scheme of the central government and acts as secretariat to the Election Board and the Eligibility Board.
