Waste disposal and the environment

For business and industry

Waste disposal

  • We collect and process certain types of waste for you, including:

    • household-type waste;
    • hazardous waste such as oil and chemicals; and
    • clinical and medical waste.

    All companies must participate in these waste collection schemes unless we have given them an exemption in writing.

    Companies are also required to sort and separate waste by type for recycling. This applies to waste such as paper, cardboard, boxes and plastic packaging. There is often a cash benefit in sorting and separating waste because it is generally cheaper to dispose of waste that has been separated into specific categories for recycling, incineration, specialist treatment or disposal in landfill sites.

    Contact the Environment, Infrastructure and Parks division (Teknik og Miljø) if you have any questions about the rules on business waste and the cost of disposing of it.

  • Building waste, asbestos and hazardous waste should be reported to Bygningsaffald.dk.

    A building owner is responsible for sorting and separating building waste when building, renovating or demolishing a structure. In practical terms this responsibility is usually transferred to the contractor carrying out the work.
